TGIF!
Today is Citizenship Class. I would like to continue to focus on citizenship each Friday. Today's tasks are:
1. If you haven't already, REGISTER for an account at www.citizenshipcounts.ca. You can do this by clicking "Login" at the top right corner and then click, "Create an account".
2. Complete the first badge. This can be found at "Discover Canada Study Guide" in the above website. Click the icon (picture) of the first badge. When you are finished, the badge will be coloured dark. Today's badge is, "The Oath".
3. For fun, try a practice test from the same website. Share in our WhatsApp group what score you got. Was it easy or difficult? What question was difficult?
If you left your citizenship book at school, you can try to order a new one from this link: https://smp.gilmore.ca/web/richsmp/layout/generica/UserMain.faces. If not, you can access the book online at: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/discover-canada.html.

Today's Work: Wednesday March 25, 2020
Good Day!
I am planning a ZOOM get-together today at 1 PM. I will send the link for you to join at that time in our Whatsapp group. This is new for me, so let's see how it goes! It is a good idea to mute your microphone (mic) unless you are talking. It can get really noisy if everyone keeps their mic on! But also, don't be like Jennifer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-tjwY9BlJA
Also, after the ZOOM meeting, you are invited to voice record on Whatsapp about what we discussed. IT WILL BE ASSESSED AS A SPEAKING ASSESSMENT. Yes! We still plan on doing assessments!!! I will be assessing the usual things; pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, etc. depending on your level (higher levels need more details and complex sentence structure). Also, I will be mindful of whether you used, "reported speech". We have reviewed this in class but the following link may help: https://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/reported-speech.html The deadline to submit your assessment (voice recording about what we all discussed at the meeting) will be Friday at noon, so hopefully, you'll have plenty of time.
During the ZOOM meeting, it may be a good idea to take notes in order to remember what everyone said. You are expected to share how you are doing, how many hours of work you think you can do each day, and what you like and don't like about staying home. I can't wait to "see" you. Don't forget: 1 PM!!!

Good morning!
Today, I thought that we could do a fun pronunciation exercise! Please watch Rachel's video on a pronunciation strategy called a, "Benjamin Franklin Exercise". When you are done, send a VOICE MESSAGE to our Whatsapp group saying this:
This morning for breakfast, I had Barbara’s Shredded Oats with milk. This is my favourite breakfast. But sometimes, I do have eggs.
As a follow-up, please answer the following questions and email the answers to me:
1. What is the subject in the first sentence?
2. Why is the first sentence in simple past form, but the other two are in simple present form?
3. Why does, "Barbara's Shredded Oats" have capital letters?
4. Why have I spelled, "favourite" with a u, but Rachel hasn't?
